Caves Beach is the southern end of the ocean strip, with older beach houses, newer builds and plenty of sand in between. Lake Macquarie Blocked Drains connects you with licensed local drain plumbers who service Caves Beach.
Why Caves Beach drains block
Two eras of housing means two sorts of drain call. The newer builds have modern PVC sewer lines and give trouble only when something that should not be flushed is. The older beach stock runs jointed clay, and that is where roots and displaced joints turn up.
Sand is the common denominator. It gets into stormwater pits and settles in the flat runs, and on a coastal block there is a steady supply of it. Jetting is the right tool, because high-pressure water flushes sediment through to the outlet rather than compacting it further along the pipe.
Common causes of blocked drains in Caves Beach
- Sand silting up stormwater pits and flat pipe runs
- Roots in aged clay sewer joints in the older stock
- Outdoor showers and beach rinse-offs feeding grit into gullies
- Holiday-period load on older drainage
- Leaf litter from coastal scrub in gutters and downpipes
How a blocked drain gets cleared here
A CCTV drain camera inspection sorts out what is actually happening, because on the peninsula the answer could be sand, roots, a flat run holding water or old pipe that has given up. Jet blasting flushes sand and silt through the line and cuts roots off the wall in the one visit. Where the camera finds broken pipe, pipe relining repairs it without excavation.
What it costs
A standard clear typically runs $150 to $400. Sand-laden or root-affected lines sit at the upper end. A camera inspection typically runs $249 to $600, or $350 to $900 combined with jetting, and tree roots in drains typically cost $250 to $600 to clear. The price comes before the work, not after.

Frequently asked questions
Will a plunger do anything for a sandy drain?
Very little. A plunger moves sand a short distance down the pipe where it settles again. Jetting is what actually carries it out of the line.
New house, blocked drain. How?
Modern pipe does not develop root intrusion, so on a newer home the cause is almost always what has gone down it: wipes, nappies, fat, building debris left in the line, or a sagged section from poor bedding when it was laid. A camera tells you which.
My inspection shaft is full. Who fixes that?
Start by working out which side of the connection the problem is on. As the property owner you hold the sewer pipes and fittings on the property, including the boundary trap and the inspection shaft. But a shaft that is full or overflowing can indicate a blockage in Hunter Water's sewer main or branch line rather than your own pipes, and Hunter Water asks to be called straight away when that happens. A licensed plumber with a camera and locator can tell you which it is.
